Corporate Knights Inc. Senior Executives:
Toby is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Corporate Knights and CK Capital. He spearheaded the first global ranking of the world’s 100 most sustainable corporations in 2005, and in 2007 coined the term “clean capitalism.” He sits on the Sustainability Accounting Standards Advisory Board and the University of Toronto’s Environment and Finance Committee. He also is a director at Ashoka Canada. Toby has been published in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal and the Globe and Mail, and is a regular guest speaker on CBC. In 1998, he played centrefield for the Yugoslav National Baseball Team.
Lyn has 25 years of corporate experience, largely in transformative change environments. An advocate for sustainability in business and community, Lyn is on the board of GreenBlue Institute, based in Charlottesville, VA and has served as a director with a variety of non-profit organizations. She led the corporate responsibility portfolio at Catalyst Paper through the end of 2013 and in January 2014 Catalyst and its partners announced completion of the Great Bear Rainforest agreement for coastal British Columbia. During her tenure, Catalyst ranked among Corporate Knights Best 50 Canadian companies for seven consecutive years and earned five awards for reporting excellence from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Her communication leadership background includes Aquila Networks Canada (now Fortis), TELUS, Canada Post, and APEGA. She holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, a BA from the University of Alberta, and a journalism diploma from MacEwan College University.
Usha is the CFO of Corporate Knights Inc., and oversees the finances of both CK Capital and CK Media. Prior to joining Corporate Knights, Usha worked as national head of assurance services, corporate responsibility & sustainability at Deloitte & Touche LLP, Toronto, and at the global headquarters of HSBC in London, where she led the integration of sustainability into the bank’s global finance function. Usha also served as the finance director at 10:10, a London-based global climate change campaign. Usha has a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and is a Chartered Accountant. She is an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer.
Corporate Knights Inc. Board Members:
Michele is the chairman of Corporate Knights Inc. He also works as an attorney in Allen & Overy’s Hong Kong office and is a member of the International Capital Markets Department. His practice focuses on public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance, and general corporate matters. Michele represents both underwriters and corporate issuers with respect to their debt and equity offerings, including high-yield, convertible and straight corporate debt offerings, and initial public offerings.
Sean is vice-chairman at Corporate Knights Inc. and oversees the company’s business development strategy. Sean is an investment management expert with three decades of experience in international economics and the financial industry. He is a former executive vice-president of State Street Corporation and chief investment officer, Americas, where he was responsible for nearly US$ 2 trillion in assets under management. In addition to his role at Corporate Knights, he is the president of Proxima, LLC and serves as the chief operating officer and director of Sustainable Investment Strategies at Meister Consultants Group.
Heather is a Director of Corporate Knights Inc. and an Investment Manager with Vancity Community Capital. Heather has over 20 years of experience sourcing, structuring and managing complex debt and equity financings across a wide variety of industry sectors. Prior to joining the Vancity team, Heather provided financial and strategic consulting services to social enterprises, environmentally-focused firms, traditional operating and growth oriented companies. Heather also has an extensive background in community involvement having served as Treasurer and Director on the Board of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland and currently as a Director of the Vancouver Enterprise Forum.
Mike is Founder & Executive Director of Sustainability CoLab, which supports a network of non-profits building the low-carbon economy in cities across Ontario. Mike founded Sustainable Waterloo Region in 2008, which through the Regional Carbon Initiative engaged 14% of the workforce in setting targets to reduce over 50,000 tonnes of GHGs. Sustainability CoLab exists to scale that success. The CoLab Network includes eight organizations across Ontario that have convened networks of local businesses that are setting and achieving GHG reduction targets. Named an Ashoka Fellow in 2012, Mike is one of 43 Canadians within this global community of leading social entrepreneurs, each with a new ‘knock-out’ idea and high potential to scale their impact.
